Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush'

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' is a large bird’s-nest type Anthurium with upright, leathery leaves arranged around a stout central stem. It grows as a broad rosette, with each new leaf rising from the crown and arching outward.

Anthurium crassinervium is native from Colombia to Venezuela and Curaçao, with a wider Caribbean and northern South American presence in botanical records. Mature plants need container stability and root room.

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' key traits

  • Growth habit: Bird’s-nest Anthurium with a loose upright rosette and a strong central crown.
  • Leaves: Long, leathery blades with wavy margins, firm texture and visible veining.
  • Plant size: Capable of becoming a large container plant with warmth, root space and light.
  • Rooting style: Can grow as an epiphyte, lithophyte or terrestrial plant.

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' indoor care

  • Light: Provide bright filtered light and protect soft or pale foliage from harsh midday sun.
  • Watering: Water when the upper part of the substrate has started to dry, then drain thoroughly.
  • Substrate: Use a loose Anthurium mix with bark, coco chips, pumice or perlite so roots receive moisture and oxygen.
  • Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–28 °C, and protect from cold wet substrate.
  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity helps new leaves expand cleanly; pair humidity with gentle airflow.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth with a diluted complete fertiliser.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots fill the pot or the mix begins to collapse.
  • Crown care: Remove dead leaf bases and debris when they loosen naturally.

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' issues to check

  • Yellowing lower leaves: Check for compacted substrate, cool roots or a pot staying wet for too long.
  • Brown edges: Review humidity, watering gaps and fertiliser strength.
  • Distorted new growth: Inspect young leaves for thrips or mites and stabilise humidity.
  • Soft stems or crown: Check root health and improve drainage immediately.

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' handling and safety

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' should be kept away from pets and children that may chew plant material. Like other Anthuriums, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, throat, skin and eyes.

Anthurium crassinervium 'Jungle Bush' name background

Anthurium belongs to the family Araceae. The genus name comes from Greek anthos, meaning flower, and oura, meaning tail, referring to the spadix. The species epithet crassinervium means thick-veined.

Super wide
Size: 13 Little Kid, Color: Taupe
They are oddly very wide. Great for kids with wide chunky feet but for us it was not cute

Solid Kids Sandals, Overpriced Like Most Kids Shoes 🌞
Size: 11 Little Kid, Color: Brown, Size: 11 Little Kid, Color: Brown
My son hasn’t worn these yet since it’s December in Indiana and sandals + snow obviously don’t mix. 😂 So this review is based on first impressions rather than long term wear. That said, these seem wider than a lot of typical kids’ sandals, which I REALLY appreciate since we tend to have wider feet in our family. #hobbitfeet The quality feels pretty decent overall. They’re described as lightweight, and while they’re not insanely lightweight, they do have enough weight to feel semi-sturdy and not flimsy or cheap. I like the style and color, and I think they’ll work well for my son once warmer weather hits. My main complaint is the price. At just under $24 at the time of this review, it feels a little high for kids’ sandals and for what these are. I really feel like $20 MAX would make more sense. Kids shoes are almost always priced like adult shoes, even though they clearly use less material, and that’s hard for me to understand and wrap my mind around. Overall, these seem solid for daily wear, I just wish the price was a bit more reasonable and affordable.
