A head start on a sweet pea grown purely for fragrance.

This listing is for a pre-order of four strong young ‘More Scent’ sweet pea plants (Lathyrus odoratus), grown in deep Rootrainers, similar to the ones we use here on the farm. These cells encourage excellent root development, resulting in plants that transplant cleanly and establish quickly in cool spring soil.

Each start is carefully grown and selected for vigor and early growth, then shipped at the ideal stage for planting into beds, borders, or containers as soon as the ground can be worked. With proper support and cool-season conditions, you can expect an intensely fragrant display by late spring.

What’s Included

  • Grown in Rootrainers for strong, straight root systems

  • Ready for early spring planting once frost danger has passed

  • Shipped at the ideal transplanting stage

  • Single-variety pack — perfect for scent lovers and heritage gardeners

Pre-Order & Shipping Window (Important)

This is a pre-order item. Sweet pea plant starts will ship between mid-March and mid-April.

About ‘More Scent’

‘More Scent’ is a sweet pea grown first and foremost for its extraordinary fragrance. If you want a variety that fills the air with perfume, this is the one.

The flowers are charming rather than showy, displaying a soft mauve tone on a creamy background, and are carried on compact vines that typically reach 4–5 feet tall. This smaller stature makes ‘More Scent’ ideal for planting along walkways, near doors, patios, or sitting areas where its scent can be enjoyed up close and often.

The blooms are best appreciated on the vine, as they do not last long in a vase. ‘More Scent’ also sets seed quickly, so frequent deadheading is essential to encourage prolonged flowering. Closely related to classic heritage varieties such as ‘Cupani’ and ‘Matucana’, it offers a traditional sweet pea experience rooted in scent rather than floral display.

Why Choose Plant Starts?

Skip the most time-sensitive stage of growing sweet peas. Whether you’re growing for fragrance, nostalgia, or guaranteed success, these ready-to-grow starts make it easy to enjoy strong, healthy plants without the uncertainty of seed starting.

a modern love story
Format: Kindle
This book captured my attention from the first line. She has a way of making you feel the emotions, heartache, and even loving memories she shares. I literally remember stopping to tell my boyfriend I couldn't wait to have kids because of the way she described picking up her children from school and their innocent smiles as soon as they saw her. It's a tragedy and a love story, and a coming to her own all in one. Loved this book!

Memories Are Made of This
Format: Kindle
Belle Burden has overcome a weighty burden—pun intended! Strangers is a book of many colors. There is so much of the overcast gray of heartbreak and estrangement. There is plenty of the blue of heavy disappointment and grief. But happily for every reader, there are so many of the bright colors of happiness and fulfillment. The premise of this memoir has been well documented—a wealthy, privileged life led by a woman of means is interrupted by the abrupt departure of her husband for points unknown. Children remain—-lodged in some difficult ‘tween years. Central is the woman who just happens to be made of pretty stern stuff as it turns out and who is a brilliant writer. Belle Burden is the belle of her own tale. She shares it all with the reader in un-put-down-able prose, sparing nothing, We are richer for reading Belle Burden’s beautifully crafted memoir. The warm glow of hope is there for all to share. Well done!

BRAVO!
Format: Kindle
Bravely written account of a very painful time in a persons life. Told with out malice and highlights the awful task of having to go through a divorce navigating your way under almost suffocating circumstances. Be strong and realize that whether a person wants it or not, you are forced face the fact that you are making the most important financial decsion of your life.

Surprisingly Unputdownable
Format: Kindle
I read saw several reviews that said this book wasn’t really about anything, and they were right. There was no big drama, no fighting, no headline news. But there was something in the writing that felt profound and I couldn’t stop reading. And I’m glad I didn’t. In the end for me, this was a story about a marriage, and choices that were made and the strength of a woman who wouldn’t be silent, and the writing that brought so much emotion with it that I wound up feeling all of it so deeply. And when a writer can create those feelings in me, then her book was definitely worth reading. I highly recommend this book - I don’t think you’ll regret the time you spend in its pages. I know I didn’t.

Slightly Interesting
Format: Kindle
First, I think Belle is a great writer. There was a lot of effort put into making this a very readable book. I also think that what happened to her really was terrible. Her husband 100% was wrong in what he did to her with the affair and his disappearance. Ultimately, her marriage prior to the betrayal seemed very superficial. She acknowledges that she chose the comforts of wealth over a close relationship. She had a part time husband/father and honestly it's not surprising that he left. He was barely there to begin. Her absolute terror in imagining that she would drop down from the top 0.1% down to around the top 1% was not the compelling tragedy that she seems to think it is. Her bemoaning of the loss of ultra luxuries tended to diminish the emotional toll of her plight. The book is laced through with the eventual end that her husband is going to take his assets and half of hers, but it never happens. I think she wants to relate the uncertainty and fear that she had, but it comes off as fake panic. In the end, it's a sad story, but it was very predictable. It's a story about a woman who outsourced her responsibilities, who doesn't know how to operate without extreme wealth, and who shudders at the prospect of having to work a job. It was a short book, but 3 times longer than necessary.
